One-Family-Owned 1985 Ford Econoline E-150 Bivouac Roamer Conversion Van

This 1985 Ford Econoline E-150 van was modified by Bivouac Automotive Group with their Roamer conversion package and was purchased new by the seller’s father. It is said to have been parked in a garage for nearly two decades before the seller’s acquisition in 2023. Subsequent service involved installing a remanufactured carburetor and replacing the starter, battery, spark plugs, valve cover gaskets, and dual fuel tanks. Finished in Light Desert Tan with multi-color graphics over brown velour, the van is powered by a 5.8-liter V8 that drives the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. Equipment includes 15″ wire-spoke alloy wheels, picture windows, a rear roof rack and ladder, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, a Cobra CB radio, a Sony cassette stereo and speakers, cruise control, and air conditioning. This Ford conversion van is offered with assorted literature, shop manuals, spare parts, an accident-free Carfax report, and a clean New Jersey title in the seller’s name.

The van is finished in Light Desert Tan (8Q) with brown, tan, and silver graphics. Exterior details include a bug shield, swing-away side mirrors, picture windows, and running boards with integrated wheel arch flares as well as a rear roof rack and ladder, side-hinged right-side and rear cargo doors, and a receiver hitch. The windshield was replaced in 2023. There is a dent near the left taillight, and the seller notes an area of rust beneath the left and right rear quarter panels.

The 15″ wire-spoke alloy wheels were mounted with 235/75 Firestone Destination LE3 tires in 2023, and a covered spare is secured to the left rear cargo door. Braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums. The seller says that the shocks need replacement.

The front captain’s chairs are trimmed in brown velour and accompanied by matching interior panels. Amenities include a power-adjustable driver’s seat, a Cobra CB radio, a Sony cassette stereo and speakers, cruise control, and power windows and locks. The air conditioning system was recharged in 2023.

The rear cabin features dual captain’s chairs, a rear bench seat, overhead lighting, and residential power outlets. The right-side captain’s chair is crooked, and the window blinds need work.

The two-spoke steering wheel wears a cover and frames an 85-mph speedometer and gauges for oil pressure, fuel level, amperage, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 85k miles, approximately 650 of which were added under current ownership. A potential odometer rollover is listed in a May 2001 entry on the Carfax report, and the seller believes this to be an error.

The van is powered by a 5.8-liter V8, and work between June and September 2023 involved installing a remanufactured carburetor and replacing the following components:

  • Starter
  • Air filter
  • PCV valve
  • Ignition coil
  • Spark plugs
  • Valve cover gaskets
  • Fuel pump and filter
  • Dual fuel tanks, sending units, vent valves, and lines

The carburetor was subsequently rebuilt and adjusted in August 2026, at which time the battery, starter solenoid, and engine oil were replaced.

Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential with 3.50:1 gearing. The transmission and differential fluids were changed, and the gaskets for the transmission pan and differential cover were replaced in June-September 2023.

The Carfax report shows the aforementioned potential odometer rollover.
