23-Years-Owned 1998 BMW R1200C at No Reserve

This 1998 BMW R1200C is an Ivory-finished example that was acquired by the seller in 2003, reportedly from its first owner. It was recently recommissioned following approximately 13 years of storage, with work that is said to have included replacing the tires, changing the powertrain lubricants, and cleaning the interior of the fuel tank as well as replacing the fuel pump, fuel level sending unit, fuel filter, internal fuel lines, and brake lines. Power is provided by an air-cooled 1,170cc opposed-twin paired with a five-speed transmission, and equipment includes an enclosed driveshaft, dual external oil coolers, electronic fuel injection, a Staintune two-into-two exhaust system, a Telelever front end, a Paralever single-sided swingarm, triple anti-lock disc brakes, wire-spoke wheels, a clear windscreen, navy blue-upholstered two-up seating, rider and passenger backrests, folding passenger foot pegs, leather-covered side cases, and a side stand. Now indicating 16k miles, this R1200C is offered at no reserve with a tool kit, factory literature, a September 2026 service invoice, and a California title in the seller’s name.

The bike is finished in Ivory with navy blue pinstriping. Features include a clear windscreen, navy blue-upholstered two-up seating, rider and passenger backrests, folding passenger foot pegs, leather-covered side cases, and a side stand. The seller notes visible wear on the right side case.

Wire-spoke wheels measuring 18″ up front and 15″ out back were mounted with Dunlop tires in September 2026. Suspension consists of a Telelever front end in addition to a Paralever single-sided swingarm, each of which is equipped with a monoshock. Anti-lock braking is provided by dual rotors and four-piston calipers up front along with a single rotor and two-piston caliper at the rear. The seller notes that replacement stainless-steel brake lines were installed in August 2026. Pitting is visible on the wheels.

The chrome pullback handlebar is mounted aft of instrumentation consisting of a 130-mph speedometer with inset warning indicators as well as a bank of additional indicator lights. The six-digit mechanical odometer shows 16k miles, approximately 3k of which have been ridden under current ownership.

The air-cooled 1,170cc opposed-twin is equipped with an electric starter, dual external oil coolers, Bosch Motronic electronic fuel injection, oil-cooled cylinder heads with four valves per cylinder, and a Staintune stainless-steel two-into-two exhaust system. The bike was stored without fuel from 2013 until 2026, and work in August 2026 included inspecting the valve clearances, installing a replacement battery, cleaning the interior of the fuel tank, and replacing the fuel pump, fuel level sending unit, fuel filter, and internal fuel lines, as well as changing the oil and oil filter. A scratch is noted on the left-side valve cover.

Power is routed to the rear wheel through a five-speed transmission and an enclosed driveshaft. The seller notes that the transmission and driveshaft lubricants were changed in August 2026.
