1969 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe 427/390 L36 4-Speed

This 1969 Chevrolet Corvette coupe was initially sold by City Motor Company in Great Falls, Montana, and is said to have remained with its first owner for nearly four decades. The car was specified with a 427ci L36 V8, a four-speed manual transmission, and a Positraction differential as well as Daytona Yellow paintwork and black vinyl upholstery. Other equipment includes power steering, power disc brakes, and 15″ Rally wheels in addition to removable roof panels, an AM/FM radio, and a rear luggage rack. The current owner acquired the car in 2020, and work in 2026 involved rebuilding the Rochester carburetor and replacing the fuel filter. This C3 coupe is now offered on dealer consignment with a Protect-O-Plate, a tank sticker, the owner’s manual, and a Wyoming title.

The car is finished in Daytona Yellow and has removable roof panels, a rear luggage rack, hideaway headlights, a driver-side mirror, and dual exhaust outlets. Stone chips on lower portions of the body are noted.

The 15″ Rally wheels wear stainless steel trim rings and center caps and are mounted with Hankook Kinergy ST tires. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by power-assisted four-wheel discs.

Black vinyl covers the bucket seats, which are equipped with headrests, and the cabin is appointed with a heater and an AM/FM radio. The clock is not accurate.

The three-spoke steering wheel is mounted on a telescopic column and frames a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5,600-rpm redline, while auxiliary gauges are mounted in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 51k miles, less than 1k of which were added under current ownership.

The 427ci L36 V8 was rated at 390 horsepower when new. The Rochester four-barrel carburetor was rebuilt in 2026, and the fuel filter was replaced.

The engine stamping is shown above. The LM suffix corresponds with a 390-horsepower, 427ci V8 for use with a manual transmission.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and an optional Positraction limited-slip differential.

Decoding the trim tag provides the following information:

  • B30 – September 30 production
  • Trim ZQ4 – Black vinyl upholstery
  • Paint 984 – Daytona Yellow

Documentation that accompanies the car includes an order copy, tank sticker, pre-delivery checklist, and a Protect-O-Plate.

The current Wyoming title carries an “Over Ten Years Old” notation.
