350-Powered 1971 International Harvester Scout 800B 4×4 Travel-Top

This 1971 International Harvester Scout 800B 4×4 Travel-Top is finished in ivy green over black vinyl upholstery. Power comes from a 350ci Chevrolet V8 linked to a Turbo 400 three-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Equipment includes 17″ Vision wheels, a winch, manually locking front hubs, a Rough Country suspension lift, front bucket seats, and a removable hardtop. The truck was purchased by the owner in 2024 and the build was completed in 2026. This Scout is now offered on behalf of the owner with a copy of the Line Setting Ticket and an Ohio title.

During the build, the body was stripped and mounted to a fabricated steel-tube bed framework. The front fenders, hood, and nose panel were sourced from donor vehicles. Further metalwork included rust repairs, a bead-rolled bed floor, and fabricated inner bed sides. The exterior was finished in single-stage ivy green and ceramic coated. Details include a white removable hardtop, a custom front bumper, and a Rough Country 9,500-lb winch. Dual mirrors, quarter vent windows, and roof rails are fitted. The glass, weatherstripping, and window felts were replaced, and the seller notes that the original window regulators operate stiffly when rolled up.

Vision HD 84 D Window Series 17×8″ wheels wear 285/70 Cooper Discoverer Rugged Trek tires. The front axle has manually locking hubs. The chassis was stripped and refinished in black, and suspension modifications include a 2″ Rough Country lift kit and replacement rear shocks and leaf springs. Steering gear includes a rebuilt steering box and linkage with one-ton rod ends. Braking is handled by four-wheel drums linked to a dual-reservoir master cylinder, and the brake lines were replaced.

The cab houses JEGS front bucket seats trimmed in black vinyl. The seats sit on a fabricated base with a folding passenger seat and a locking driver drawer. Interior floors received bedliner coating, and the custom center console houses cupholders, 12-volt USB ports, and storage. Additional equipment includes painted wood headliner panels, lap belts, a Lokar floor shifter, and a gun rack. The glovebox and heater core were replaced, and an E-Z Wiring fuse panel was installed. Ignition is controlled via a toggle switch and push button.

Instrumentation consists of Stewart-Warner gauges including a 160-mph speedometer and auxiliary readouts. The odometer was replaced during the build and shows 148 miles. The current Ohio title lists an odometer reading of 89,436 miles.

The 350ci Chevrolet V8 was overhauled by Glad Precision Machine of Stuart, Virginia. Work included boring the cylinders .030″ over, fitting flat-top pistons, and installing Hastings rings. Machined 041 cylinder heads are fitted along with an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold and a Holley 600-cfm carburetor. Coated headers feed a dual exhaust system. Cooling is provided by an aluminum radiator with an electric puller fan. An under-bed fuel tank was installed, and the fuel lines were replaced.

Power is routed to the rear or all four wheels via a Turbo 400 three-speed automatic transmission and an NP205 dual-range transfer case. The truck is equipped with a Dana 30 front axle and a Dana 44 rear axle with a Powr-Lok limited-slip differential and 3.73:1 gearing. The driveshafts were replaced during the build.

A copy of the Line Setting Ticket will accompany the truck.
