350-Powered 1971 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40

This 1971 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 was retrofitted with a 350ci V8 sometime before 2014 and has received refurbishment work over the ensuing years. The truck is finished in red, and highlights include a three-speed manual transmission, a dual-range transfer case, a removable hardtop, a roll cage, 15″ steel wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, auxiliary lights, and aftermarket seats. The selling dealer acquired the truck in 2025, and subsequent work included repainting the body, servicing the steering, rebuilding the carburetor, replacing the headliner, and more as described below. This FJ40 is now offered with service records and a California title.

The repaint is said to have been carried out in 2026, and the windshield and various seals and hardware are noted to have been recently replaced. Exterior details include auxiliary lights, dual side mirrors, and a rear step. A farm jack is secured to the front of the truck.

The seller notes that work performed under current ownership included sourcing the 15″ steel wheels, mounting Mastercraft Courser Trail RT tires, rebuilding the lower steering column, and replacing the emergency brake drum, emergency brake handle, and power steering belt.  The truck is equipped with power steering and manually locking front hubs. Replacement leaf springs were installed and a four-wheel disc brake conversion was carried out under previous ownership.

The interior is outfitted with aftermarket bucket seats, a heater, a CD player, a storage console, and a fire extinguisher. The floors have been coated, and various parts have been refinished. The seller notes that a replacement headliner was installed under current ownership.

The aftermarket steering wheel is secured to a tilting column and frames a Dolphin Gauges aftermarket instrument cluster with a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary readouts. The digital odometer indicates 18k miles. True mileage is unknown.

The carbureted 350ci V8 is equipped with an Edelbrock carburetor, a Weiand intake, and MSD ignition. The seller notes that work performed under current ownership included rebuilding the carburetor and replacing the fuel pump, fuel tank sending unit, and battery.

Power is routed to the rear or all four wheels through a three-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The seller notes that the transmission and transfer case were overhauled about 20 years ago, and a replacement clutch and flywheel are said to have been installed in 2015. The front and rear differentials are noted to have been serviced under current ownership.
