This 1979 Porsche 930 Turbo is a rest-of-world coupe that was purchased by the current owner in South Africa as a modified project. It was disassembled and refurbished in metallic blue over brown and houndstooth upholstery before it was imported to the US in 2023. Additional work included replacing the windshield and assorted body panels, rebuilding the turbocharged 3.3-liter flat-six, overhauling the four-speed manual transaxle, suspension, brakes, and more. Finished in metallic blue over brown leatherette and houndstooth upholstery, the car is equipped with 16″ Fuchs alloy wheels, a sunroof, a rear spoiler, front bucket seats, a Porsche Classic Communication Management head unit, auxiliary inputs, a MOMO steering wheel, alloy floorboard inserts, and power windows. This 930 Turbo is now offered on consignment by the selling dealer, a BaT Local Partner, with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, a Heuer Trackmate stopwatch, refurbishment photos and records, and a Colorado title.

The car was finished in Minerva Blue Metallic from the factory and was refinished in a non-metallic shade of blue under previous ownership. During the refurbishment, the car was disassembled, mounted on a rotisserie, and repainted in the factory shade. A replacement windshield, nose panel, fender extensions, weather seals, and lenses were also installed. Exterior equipment includes a sunroof, front fog lights, headlight washers, dual side mirrors, rear fender stone guards, rear bumperettes, a front spoiler, and a tea ray rear spoiler. Exterior wiring repairs were completed in August 2023. Close-up photos of the paint and trim condition are viewable in the gallery below.

Staggered-width 16″ Fuchs alloy wheels are mounted with Bridgestone Potenza S001 tires that show production codes from 2011 and 2012. Stopping power is provided by power-assisted four-wheel ventilated discs. Bilstein shocks were installed, the suspension was refreshed, the brake calipers were rebuilt, and the wheel bearings were replaced in 2016. Replacement front ball joints were installed in 2023, and the brake fluid was most recently changed in September 2026. A 2026 inspection invoice indicates the rear control arm bushings are beginning to crack.

The front bucket seats are upholstered in brown leatherette with houndstooth cloth inserts, and matching upholstery extends to the individual rear seats. Alloy floorboard inserts have been installed, along with a Porsche Classic Communication Management head unit with navigation and auxiliary inputs below the center of the dashboard. The right window motor was replaced in preparation for the sale.

The leather-wrapped MOMO Prototipo steering wheel frames a 300-km/h speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,700-rpm redline and an inset boost gauge as well as an analog clock and gauges for oil level, oil temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 175k kilometers (~109k miles). A Heuer Trackmate stopwatch is mounted to the right of the steering column, and an aluminum ignition switch surround has been fitted. Replacement steering column universal joints were installed in September 2026.

The 3.3-liter flat-six was fitted with twin turbochargers under previous ownership, and it was overhauled and reverted to factory specifications in 2018 by B-Tech Racing of Vereeniging, South Africa, with a replacement turbocharger, pistons and cylinders, throttle body, timing chains, and used stock components. A detailed invoice for the engine overhaul is shown in the gallery. The oil was changed, and the battery was replaced in September 2026, and an inspection in the gallery notes seepage from the valve covers and timing cover.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle that was overhauled in 2018 with replacement gears, bearings, and synchronizers. The 2026 inspection in the gallery notes the transaxle mounts are starting to crack, and seepage is present from the gearbox case.

Photos taken during various stages of the refurbishment are viewable in the gallery.

The Porsche Certificate of Authenticity shows colors, equipment, options, and an initial registration date in March 1979.
The Colorado title lists an “Exempt” odometer notation.
