1969 Plymouth Road Runner Convertible 4-Speed

This 1969 Plymouth Road Runner is one of 2,128 convertibles produced for the model year and reportedly was sold by its original owner to a dealer, from whom it was purchased by the seller in 2013. The car is finished in red with a power-operated white convertible top over a white vinyl bench-seat interior, and power is provided by a 383ci V8 linked to a four-speed manual transmission with a Hurst shifter. Power-assisted front disc brakes and a radio faceplate were added under current ownership, and additional equipment includes a four-barrel carburetor, chrome 14″ road wheels, and a reproduction AM/FM thumbwheel radio. This RM27 Road Runner is now offered with service receipts, removed parts, and transferable New York registration in the seller’s name.

The car left the factory finished in Scorch Red (R6) and features a power-operated white convertible top. Other equipment includes quad headlights, black hood stripes, dual side mirrors, Road Runner badging and graphics, bright slash-cut exhaust tips, and chrome bumpers.

Chrome-finished 14″ steel road wheels with black insets are mounted with 225/70 Cooper Cobra Radial G/T tires. Braking is provided by power-assisted front discs and rear drums; the brakes were converted to the front-disc setup under current ownership.

The cabin houses bench seats upholstered in white vinyl with matching door panels and contrasting black dash pads and carpeting. Interior appointments include front headrests, a reproduction AM/FM thumbwheel radio, a heater, a locking glovebox, lap belts, and a Hurst floor shifter.

A three-spoke steering wheel with a semi-circular horn ring and a “Beep! Beep!” center cap fronts a horizontal 120-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline as well as gauges for charging status, fuel level, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 77k miles, approximately 2k of which were driven by the seller.

The 383ci Road Runner V8 was factory equipped with a Carter four-barrel carburetor and rated at 335 horsepower and 425 lb-ft of torque. An Optima Redtop battery is installed.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.
