There’s always something comforting about something familiar, especially if it’s the best cat memes online.

I was pretty sick this week. Not in a cute achoo sort of way, but more the “Help, I can’t get out of bed” way. It was one of those very slow weeks of ailment, where you feel a slight improvement every day, but really can’t wait for the weekend to come. I hope all you fellow feline fanatics didn’t have a similar week to mine, because it was awful. But you know what gets me through every week? Reaching Caturday and its weekly lolcats binge. And after this week of being bed-bound – there’s no one happier than me about reaching this glorious cat-filled point of the week. Finally.

When people feel down, there’s something super comforting about experiencing familiarity. It’s the same psychological mechanism that makes babies attached to specific plush toys that relaxes them and helps them fall asleep. It’s that sense of familiarity that makes us feel safe, no matter the age. And after this absolutely blah of a week I’ve been having, getting through the week’s lolcats feels like a hug from my favorite teddy bear. So no, I’m not a kid anymore – but I definitely find comfort in the familiarity of the loliest of lols the internet has to offer.
