460-Powered 1978 Ford Bronco Ranger XLT at No Reserve

This 1978 Ford Bronco Ranger XLT was fitted with a 460ci V8, a three-speed C6 automatic transmission, and a 6″ suspension lift kit with Bilstein shocks in 2021, and it was refurbished around 2023 with work that involved disassembling the truck, repainting the body in GMC Sand Dune Metallic, applying an undercoating product and multi-color “sunset” stripe graphics, and retrimming the interior with brown and black upholstery. The truck is further equipped with a Carter carburetor, an Edelbrock intake manifold, a metallic brown removable fiberglass hardtop, a power-operated rear window, LED headlights, power-assisted steering, Mickey Thompson 15″ beadlock wheels, Mickey Thompson 36″ tires, and front disc brakes as well as front captain’s chairs, a removable folding rear bench seat, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, a retro-style stereo, and a 10″ subwoofer. The vehicle was purchased on BaT in November 2025 by the selling dealer; approximately 1,300 miles have since been added, and the brakes were serviced and the carburetor was rebuilt. This modified second-generation Bronco is now offered at no reserve with a Colorado title.

Factory-optioned with the Free Wheeling Package, the truck was eventually disassembled and the body was stripped to bare metal before it was repainted in GMC Sand Dune Metallic with multi-color “sunset” stripe graphics in 2024, according to the previous BaT seller. Replacement weatherstripping and LED headlights were installed as part of the refurbishment. Additional exterior details include a metallic brown removable fiberglass hardtop, a power-operated rear window, a swing-out rear-tire carrier, brown-painted bumpers, dual side mirrors, and a bright grille. Chips in the paint are pictured in the gallery below.

Mickey Thompson 15″ beadlock wheels are mounted with 36×15.5″ Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ tires. A 6″ suspension lift has been adapted, and Bilstein shock absorbers are fitted at all four corners. The truck is equipped with power steering, and power-assisted braking is provided by front discs and rear drums. The brake booster and pads were replaced under current ownership.

The front captain’s chairs and the removable folding rear bench seat were retrimmed in distressed brown leatherette upholstery with black inserts in early 2025, at which time the trim, carpeting, and interior panels also were refurbished. Appointments include a roll bar, a heater, and a Bluetooth-compatible retro-style stereo. A 10″ JBL subwoofer is housed in the cargo compartment.

The aftermarket wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts an 85-mph speedometer that is flanked by gauges for oil pressure, fuel level, alternator status, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 15k miles, which represents the distance traveled since the 2021 engine installation, per the previous BaT seller. Approximately 1,300 miles have been added by the selling dealer, and true mileage is unknown. The turn-signal switch was replaced in mid-2025.

The 460ci V8 was reportedly sourced from a 1976 Ford F-250 and was rebuilt before it was installed in this truck in 2021, and it features a Carter AFB Competition Series carburetor, an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake manifold, Edelbrock-branded chrome valve covers, and a Spectre open-element air cleaner. Between 2023 and 2025, the radiator, power-steering pump, spark plugs, ignition wires, and air cleaner were replaced. The fluids were flushed under the stewardship of the selling dealer, and the carburetor was rebuilt in August 2026.

Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a three-speed C6 automatic transmission and an NP205 dual-range transfer case. The vehicle is fitted with a Dana 44 rear axle and a 9″ differential. Undercoating material was applied to the underside of the truck in late 2024.

The Colorado title notes the odometer reading as Exempt.
