25-Years-Owned 1963 Jaguar XKE Series I Roadster

This 1963 Jaguar XKE Series I roadster was acquired by its current owner in 2001 and is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Finished in British Racing Green over tan leather, the car has a black convertible top, 15-inch wire wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, and electronic fuel injection. This XKE is now offered on dealer consignment with service records and a California title in the owner’s trust’s name.

The body was stripped and refinished in British Racing Green in 2004. A black convertible top and tan top boot are fitted. The convertible top was installed and its frame was powder-coated in 2003. Exterior details include covered headlights, a louvered clamshell hood, chrome bumpers, a driver’s side mirror, and triple windshield wipers. The seller reports that a 2015 front-end accident necessitated replacement of the front subframe and aluminum nose, followed by repairs and refinishing.

The 15-inch wire wheels are secured by two-eared knockoffs and wear Michelin XWX 215/70 tires. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs with Wilwood calipers and inboard rear rotors. The seller reports that the suspension was rebuilt in 2003. The steering rack and tie-rod ends were replaced in 2014.

The cabin is trimmed in tan leather with coordinating door panels and carpets. Equipment includes a heater, an audio system, and an Audison amplifier. A dash pad was installed in 2003.

A wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation, including a 160-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer. Auxiliary gauges are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows approximately 23k miles, about 2k of which were added under current ownership. Invoices in the gallery list higher mileage than is shown on the odometer, and total mileage is unknown.

The 4.2-liter inline-six was installed in 2002, and the seller reports that it was rebuilt in 2003. A Lucas/Denso 70-amp alternator was installed in 2022, and a fuel injection system with Jenvey throttle bodies was installed in 2023.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Borg-Warner five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The transmission was installed in 2002.
