This 1982 Yamaha XV920 Virago was customized under previous ownership, with reported work having included powder-coating the frame and ancillary components as well as fitting an aftermarket fuel tank, a solo seat, an aftermarket speedometer and lights, replacement clutch plates, a Cafe Racer Webshop rear subframe, a Yamaha R6-sourced taillight and monoshock, clip-on handlebars, and rear-set foot controls with extended linkages. Power is provided by an air-cooled 920cc SOHC V-twin paired with five-speed transmission, and equipment includes an enclosed driveshaft, a pair of Hitachi carburetors, a shortened front fender, cast alloy wheels, and both center and side stands. The bike was acquired by the seller on BaT in March 2024, and work in 2025 included a cylinder re-sleeving service as well as replacing the piston rings, rebuilding the top end with replacement gaskets, and replacing the starter motor, starter solenoid, left-cylinder cam cover, case cover gaskets, and valve inspection cap O-rings. This XV920 is offered at no reserve with service records and an Illinois title in the seller’s name. The winning bid, including the BaT buyer’s fee, will be donated to Arts of Life.
The aftermarket fuel tank is finished in red and black with gold pinstripes. The frame was powder-coated in black under current ownership, and a gold-finished Cafe Racer Webshop rear subframe has been installed. Additional details include an aftermarket solo bump seat, a shortened black powder-coated front fender, an LED headlight and front turn signals, a gold powder-coated side stand, rear-set foot controls with extended linkages, and a center stand. The taillight assembly with integrated signals was reportedly sourced from a Yamaha R6 model, a custom-fabricated electronics tray is located beneath the seat, and the bike is equipped with red under-glow lighting.
Cast alloy wheels measuring 19″ up front and 16″ out back are mounted with Dunlop tires, the front of which was reportedly replaced under current ownership. The telescopic fork features gold powder-coated lowers, while the rear piggyback monoshock was reportedly sourced from a Yamaha R6 model and is attached to the gold-finished swingarm. Stopping power is provided by dual front disc brakes along with a drum brake at the rear. The steering head bearings and fork seals were replaced under previous ownership.
Clip-on handlebars carrying bar-end mirrors and replacement switchgear are affixed above the upper triple clamp. An aftermarket 100-mph speedometer with an inset neutral lamp has been fitted, and the five-digit odometer shows 346 miles, approximately 320 of which were ridden by the seller. Total mileage is unknown. The digital gear indicator is not connected, the horn does not work, and the seller notes there is no “low fuel” indicator.
The air-cooled 920cc SOHC V-twin is equipped with an open-element air filter attached by way of a De Stijl Moto adapter, a pair of gold powder-coated Hitachi carburetors, and an aftermarket two-into-one exhaust system. The starter motor, starter solenoid, case cover gaskets, and valve inspection cap O-rings were replaced in March 2025. A cylinder re-sleeving service was carried out in April 2025, and additional work at that time involved replacing the left-cylinder cam cover and rebuilding the top end with replacement gaskets.
Power is sent to the rear wheel through a five-speed transmission and an enclosed driveshaft.
The motorcycle is titled in Illinois by its 17-character VIN, JYA10L006CA014226, which contains the nine characters stamped on the frame and the engine case. However, the label that displayed all characters of the VIN was discarded when the frame was refinished. The Illinois title displays “Mileage Not Required” in the Legend(s) section.
Proceeds will go to Arts of Life, a 501(c)3 organization that advances the creative arts community by providing artists with intellectual and developmental disabilities a collective space to expand their practice and strengthen their leadership.
