1988 Mercedes-Benz 560SL

This 1988 Mercedes-Benz 560SL has remained registered in California from new through the current owner’s purchase in 2025, and subsequent work has included replacing the timing chain, water pump, and fuel pump for its 5.5-liter V8. Finished in Arctic White over Blue leather, the car is equipped with a four-speed automatic transmission, a limited-slip differential, a dark blue soft top, a removable hardtop, chrome-plated 15″ Gullideckel alloy wheels, fog lights, a Denon cassette stereo, electric windows, central locking, cruise control, and automatic climate control. This R107 is now offered on behalf of the current owner by a BaT Local Partner with a clean Carfax report and a clean California title in the owner’s name.

The car is finished in Arctic White (147) and features a color-matched removable hardtop and a dark blue convertible soft top. Additional exterior equipment includes quad headlights, fog lights, a power antenna, and chrome-accented bumpers and trim. There are dings on the rear decklid, and close-up photographs of the exterior finish and trim are shown in the gallery below.

The chrome-plated 15″ Gullideckel alloy wheels are fitted with BFGoodrich Advantage tires that were mounted in 2025. The car was factory equipped with power steering, a fully independent suspension, and power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes. The power steering hoses, brake pads, rotors, and master cylinder were replaced in 2026.

The two bucket seats are upholstered in blue leather, and interior equipment includes electric windows, a Denon cassette stereo, central locking, cruise control, and R134a-based air conditioning. The hazard switch was replaced in preparation for the sale. The dashboard is cracked.

The four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation including a 170-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, a clock, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel economy, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 110k miles, though the seller notes that this figure is not accurate. Total mileage is unknown.

The 5.5-liter V8 was factory rated at 227 horsepower and 279 lb-ft of torque. The timing chain, water pump, drive belts, fuel filter, hood insulation, valve cover gaskets, and fuel pump were replaced in 2025.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. Transmission seals were replaced in 2025.

Manufacturer’s literature and service records are included in the sale.

The Carfax report is free of accidents or other reported damage.
